Sameena Shah, Managing Director, is the Chief Data & Analytics Officer for CIB Operations and the Global Head of Wholesale Client Onboarding & Documentation. She has been a Managing Director in AI Research since 2019, and the Global Head of Product and Transformation for Wholesale Client Onboarding for the firm. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Sameena led S&P Global’s flagship Augmented Intelligence Ratings transformation. At Thomson Reuters, she led the R&D teams that built Eikon Search, Reuters Tracer and Westlaw quick check - three of the firm’s biggest launches over the period. Prior to that, she held AI related roles at Schonfeld Securities hedge fund, Yahoo! Research, and ran her consultancy firm advising firms to incorporate AI in their businesses.
Sameena is one of a highly selective group of AI scientists over the last 30 years that have been invited to give the keynotes at top tier AI conferences IJCAI (2021) and KDD (2022), and is one of JP Morgan’s most prolific inventors with 40+ patents. She has won several best paper awards and industry recognitions including, Microsoft top PhD of the year award, Cloudera top AI/ML application award for Reuters Tracer, Google Women in Engineering award, White House CTO council nomination, and Anita Borg Technical Leadership award finalist. She is a frequent industry speaker including on Ted.com.
Sameena holds a PhD in Distributed Machine Learning and Optimization and a Masters in Computer Science from IIT Delhi, India, and a Bachelors in Electronics Engineering. Outside of work, Sameena volunteers as a NY state support parent and a coach for Special Olympics.
